Hard to tell...I'am far far away from the master level in both engines but I like CE3 a bit more since the shaders are really powerful and relativley easy to create. Both engines have their streghts and weaknesses so I think it depends on the project which engines matches better.
cool, have you heard of brigade engine by any chance, with your skillset it might be something you'd be interested in, It uses real-time path tracing, and its free to use, you can find videos of it on youtube, also any thoughts on which next-gen engine is the best? did you see the new unreal engine 4 infiltrator demo. the competition looks pretty tough as far as I can see its getting difficult to tell what the differences are between engines, I guess ultimately it comes down to the artists who create content on them as the fidelity of the visuals is pretty much determined by their skill.
No, haven't heard of that brigade engine yet but will definatley have a look! I think UE4 will be great, the Infiltrator demo was pretty impressive and as you said, the competition will be very tough. But I think there is one engine which is often forgotten in this kind of discussions: REDEngine3. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will run on it and the footage I've seen of it now is really pretty impressive stuff. But as you said, artists make graphics. The engine just kind of translates it. I think its hard to say which next gen engine will be the best since they're all got their strenghts and weaknesses. So...we'll see^^
yeah the infiltrator demo was pretty cool, although personally I thought the lighting looked a bit off. if I had to stake a bet on the next gen's best engine I would probably go with activisions, did you see that one? the face looked so real that it was creepy lol. but definatley path tracing engines are the way of the future, although they probably won't see the light of day until the generation after the next gen, that's what i'm guessing anyway
